Abd Majid Oud, founded in the early 1980s by Abd Majid, a Malaysian citizen with ancestral ties to Assam, India, is a distinguished name in the agarwood industry. With a deep understanding of the art and science behind agarwood, Abd Majid utilized his extensive expertise and family traditions to establish the company. His vision was to meet the increasing global demand for agarwood products while upholding unwavering standards of quality and sustainability.

Compliance with CITES Regulations
The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) is an agreement that came into force in 1975 with the goal of ensuring that international trade does not threaten the survival of wild plants and animals. There are three appendices: Appendix I, II, and III. Each denotes a different level of protection from trade. Aquilaria plants come under Appendix II. Appendix II taxa are those that are not necessarily threatened with extinction, but trade must be controlled in order to protect them and ensure their survival. The vast majority of taxa listed under CITES are listed in Appendix II.
At Abd Majid Oud, we work in strict compliance with all CITES requirements with respect to agarwood chips, agarwood powder and agarwood oil. We manufacture, import and re-export goods internationally through CITES permits.
Beyond Business
Agarwood is known around the world, yet much of it is still misunderstood. It is often presented as one scent, while in reality every origin, species, raw material and distillation method can produce a completely different oil.
Our work is not limited to producing and supplying agarwood oil. We also share the knowledge we have developed over more than four decades with perfumers, students, fragrance houses and the wider industry. Through workshops, professional training, material sessions and our book, Beyond the Scent of Agarwood Oil, we aim to bring greater clarity to this complex material.
We believe that knowledge should not remain only with producers. It should be shared with the people who study, evaluate and create with agarwood, helping the entire fragrance community understand and use it more responsibly.e.

For more than four decades, my journey has been dedicated to agarwood. What began with experience passed through generations has grown into a company serving partners across the world, but the principles on which we built Abd Majid Oud have remained the same: integrity, quality and responsibility.
