STEAM, the only agarwood oil in our palette produced through the upcycling process, represents a commitment to sustainability, maximizing the potential of every part of agarwood and transforming waste into a valuable resource.
The process begins with the hydro distillation of agarwood chips, sourced from mature Aquilaria crassna trees. This initial distillation yields the highest quality oud oil.
But we don’t stop there. What remains after this process, often discarded as waste, is the post-distilled raw material agarwood powder or chips that still hold potential.
We take this post-distilled agarwood powder and subject it to steam distillation. This secondary process extracts additional agarwood oil, known as STEAM.
While it is a lower grade than the initial distillation, STEAM still boasts a unique and desirable fragrance profile, making it a valuable and affordable alternative, especially for fine fragrances.
This approach minimizes the environmental footprint of agarwood oil production, contributing to more sustainable forestry practices.
Additionally, upcycling not only supports local economies but also makes the agarwood industry more resilient and resource-efficient.
Furthermore, it provides an affordable yet luxurious option for consumers who seek the rich fragrance of agarwood without compromising on quality.
