Presence of Acetaldehyde in Oud Oil

Acetaldehyde is a colourless and flammable organic compound that is commonly found in agarwood oil.

It is a natural component of Agarwood and byproduct of the enzymatic breakdown of aromatic resin and other compounds in the agarwood tree.

The amount of acetaldehyde in agarwood oil can vary depending on the species of the agarwood tree, the part of the tree used for distillation, the distillation method, and other factors.

Generally the concentration of acetaldehyde in agarwood oil is relatively low and is considered safe for use in cosmetics and perfumery.

However in high concentrations it can be toxic and may cause irritation to the skin, eyes and lungs
